Thermal treatments at the Hotel President: the experience and professionalism to serve health.

The therapeutic uses of thermal waters today identify themselves with the processes of maturation, preservation and regeneration of the thermal mud bath, as well as in bath therapy and inhalation therapies.

Thermal Medicine is an area that uses thermal care with therapeutic and rehabilitation aims. Thermal care has a very long tradition within the treatments focused in creating and preserving physical wellbeing. In the last ten years, Abano Terme has supported several types of clinical, biological and chemical/physical research at the international level that have allowed for the definition of a true and real “scientific thermalism.”

Nowadays, thermal medicine is a science that uses, as well as any other medical discipline, diagnosis and therapeutic aids, which technological progress and knowledge of the person’s health have made possible. That is why thermal mud is considered a natural medicine: “Like a pharmaceutical drug, better than a pharmaceutical drug”. Thermal treatment methods have shown their therapeutic effectiveness on the base of scientific methods.

Within a long and well-established experience in treating osteoarticular and muscular pathologies, as well as respiratory tract diseases, the Hotel President team has clearly verified and appreciated the effectiveness of thermal treatments. The effectiveness in treating these pathologies by thermal treatments is also established by the Italian Ministry of Health.

In 2004 at the University of Padua, the First Protocol for the qualification of thermal mud was presented. And so the Permanent Thermal Observatory (O.T.P) was founded with the purpose to monitor and control the quality and maturation process of thermal mud. After thermal mud was considered as efficient as a pharmaceutical drug, a control protocol was defined to guarantee that chemical, physical, biological and therapeutic requisites were constantly met for the benefit of the patient.

Recent studies carried out by the Centro Studi Termali Pietro d’Abano have confirmed the high anti-inflammatory properties of mature thermal mud; these properties are so unique and beneficial that they merited the European patent, which made thermal mud of Abano Terme, and therefore the Hotel President’s mud, stand out from every other mud in Europe.

After years of passionate research by professionals of this area, of investments in terms of human resources and money, the mud of Terme Euganee was certified and branded in 2005. The active principles extracted from the algae, which thermal mud is made of, have been studied at different levels and are a real pharmaceutical drug.

The scientific research confirms once again the effectiveness and uniqueness of thermal mud of the Euganean Basin where the Hotel President is located.
